Field Trips

Girls love field trips! What better way to learn than by doing.  Discovery trips around the neighborhood, short hikes in local parks, or visits to zoos or museums help get girls accustomed to walking, staying together, and listening. These field trips are the first in a series of progressions to get girls ready to travel afar.

All Field Trips will require at least a  signed annual permission slip, while others may require additional activity approval forms and/or insurance. As with any activity, please review the approval process prior to participating in any field trips.   Please contact the SU Activity Consultant if you have questions.


Below are some of our favorite field trip options.  Most have Girl Scout programs, but others simply require a phone call to the location manager to set up private tours/classes:

Helen Woodward Animal Center (Rancho Santa Fe)- Badge earning activities; animal interactions

Alta Vista Gardens (Vista)-local garden offers monthly workshops for kids
Bates Nut Farm (Escondido)-Visit the pumpkin patch and the Farm Zoo.  Enjoy the straw maze and tractor hayride.
San Diego Botanic Garden (Encinitas)-Take a guided tour of the gardens and play at the Children's Garden
Wahine Project (Oceanside)-Teach ocean and environmental stewardship, ocean safety and surfing
WAVE Waterpark (Vista)-Learn about water safety, first aid, swimming techniques, or just have some water fun.
